İmamoğlu's trial will begin on October 22 at the Istanbul 27th Criminal Court of First Instance.
The investigation into Ekrem İmamoğlu, regarding allegations that he insulted the two public prosecutors who referred him for arrest in a 'terrorism' investigation on March 23, the date he was arrested, has been completed. The prepared indictment requested that İmamoğlu be sentenced to between 9 months and 4 years and 1 month in prison for the crime of 'publicly insulting a public official due to their duty' in a chain manner.
FIRST HEARING ON OCTOBER 22
The date for İmamoğlu to appear before the judge regarding the case has been set. The trial of İmamoğlu will begin on October 22 at 11:00 AM at the Istanbul 27th Criminal Court of First Instance. The hearing will be held in the courtroom located within the Marmara Prison complex in Silivri.

FROM THE INDICTMENT
In the prepared indictment, it was alleged that during his testimony at the Criminal Court of Peace within the framework of the ongoing 'terrorism' investigation, İmamoğlu used insulting language toward judicial officials, and that during his interrogation by the Criminal Judgeship of Peace, he made statements that publicly offended the honor, dignity, and reputation of the complainant Public Prosecutors who referred him for arrest, exceeding the limits of freedom of expression, freedom of thought, and the right to defense.
The indictment, which also included İmamoğlu's defense, stated that he did not insult the individuals' families, private lives, or honor, that he was criticizing on behalf of the public against those who interfere in politics by abusing their public office, that every word he said was aimed at naming this order, and that he did not accept the charges brought against him.
In the prepared indictment, it was requested that the suspect Ekrem İmamoğlu be sentenced to between 9 months and 4 years and 1 month in prison for the crime of 'publicly insulting a public official due to their duty' in a chain manner. Furthermore, the application of the "deprivation of certain rights" provision contained in Article 53 of the Turkish Penal Code was requested.
