New regulations in the judiciary: Divorce case durations to be shortened

A 22-article legislative proposal containing new regulations in the judiciary is expected to be submitted to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) this week. With the proposal prepared by AKP deputies, the processes for divorce cases will change significantly.

According to the proposal, couples who cannot re-establish a common life after the finalization of a decision rejecting a divorce case will be able to file for divorce upon the request of one of the spouses if the marital union has been fundamentally shaken.

The time required for this process will be reduced from 3 years to 1 year. With the amendment to be made to Article 166 of the Turkish Civil Code, a divorce decision can be granted if a common life cannot be re-established after one year has passed.

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS FOR NOTARIES

In addition, the proposal will include provisions for the working arrangements of notaries on holidays. This aims to ensure that citizens have easier access to the services they need.

CHILD ADVOCACY CENTERS

With the amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code, state universities will be allowed to open Child Advocacy Centers (ÇİM). This regulation aims to facilitate children's access to the justice system.

The details of the new regulations will be on the agenda of the TBMM and will bring significant changes to the judicial system.
