New resignations in İYİ Party
Resignations continue in the İYİ Party following the local elections. In Kastamonu, İYİ Party Kastamonu Provincial Chair Faruk Ataşalar and Central District Chair Özgür Ergülenoğlu have stepped down from their posts.
In a written statement signed by Ataşalar and Ergülenoğlu, it was stated that the events encountered by the party across Turkey during the Local Administration General Elections were also experienced in Kastamonu.
"AS A RESULT OF POLITICAL DECORUM..."
The statement, which noted that the election campaign lasted approximately 2 months, included the following remarks:
Throughout our campaign, we unfortunately had to fight a more difficult and exhausting battle against our own party members, former chairs, and executives who desired our failure, rather than against our rivals.
In addition to many of our members who did not support their own party's candidate, did not work for their party, and did not vote for their own party and candidate, the fact that many of our own board and disciplinary committee members voted for other candidates, and even participated in the winning candidate's election march and celebration convoy, and as if that were not enough, practically announced this through their social media posts and comments, has deeply saddened us.
As a result of these attitudes and behaviors we have described, and with the awareness of the responsibility that falls upon us, we accept that we have been unsuccessful as an organization and, as a result of the political decorum we have received, we are resigning from our duties.
