New scenario in CHP following 'absolute nullity' ruling: 'National CHP' remark from AKP figure

Aydın Ünal, former AKP Ankara MP and former speechwriter for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, made notable assessments regarding the developments in the CHP following the 'absolute nullity' ruling. Arguing that a split in the CHP would lead to a 'purification' within the party, Ünal cited the examples of the MHP and the Zafer Party, stating, 'A national CHP will remain behind.'

New scenario in CHP following 'absolute nullity' ruling: 'National CHP' remark from AKP figure

While the debates within the CHP following the 'absolute nullity' ruling continue to occupy the political agenda, notable statements have come from former AKP Ankara MP Aydın Ünal.

Speaking on TVNET, Ünal argued that a potential split within the CHP would lead to significant changes in the party's structure. Claiming that if the CHP were to divide, the segments he described as 'anti-national elements' would separate, Ünal asserted that a 'national CHP' would remain.

CLAIMS OF A 'PURIFIED CHP'

Commenting on the process within the CHP, Ünal said that if the factions acting under the leadership of Özgür Özel were to leave the party, the CHP would attain a different structure.

Ünal stated, 'I believe that with this split, the Republican People's Party will be purified of the anti-national elements within it, and only a national Republican People's Party will remain. In other words, both the marginal elements and those who do not act in a national interest within the CHP will be purged along with Özgür Özel.'

CITED MHP AND ZAFER PARTY AS EXAMPLES

In his remarks, Ünal pointed to the split between the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and the Zafer Party as an example, suggesting that a similar process would occur within the CHP.

Ünal said, 'Just as the Zafer Party emerged from within the MHP and the MHP was purified of them, the CHP will also be purified, and what will remain is an opposition party, but a national opposition party.'

'OPPOSITION WILL CONTINUE UNDER KILIÇDAROĞLU'S LEADERSHIP'

Stating that the CHP under the leadership of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu would continue its opposition duties, Ünal said the party would continue to criticize the government on many issues, from security to the economy.

Ünal assessed, 'Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu... we are not here to defend him, of course. He will have very harsh criticisms regarding security, internal security, and internal affairs; he will have criticisms of the economy. Perhaps he will raise allegations of corruption again. He will criticize health policies, education policies, housing policies—he will criticize everything very harshly. He will also criticize foreign policy. But while doing so, he will have his feet on the ground.'

REMARKS ON A 'BENEFICIAL SPLIT'

Arguing that the process within the CHP would yield positive results for both the party and Turkish politics, Ünal expressed his belief that the split is 'beneficial.'

Ünal said, 'In this sense, I think it is a beneficial split both for Turkish politics and for the CHP.'

Claiming that if the CHP distances itself from Özgür Özel and his associates, it will be relieved of its burdens, Ünal said the remaining structure would continue to engage in politics with a firm opposition line.

FETÖ AND ISRAEL CLAIMS

Continuing his speech with assessments regarding FETÖ and Israel, Ünal argued that the CHP is separating from these structures.

Ünal stated, 'Separating from FETÖ already means this for the Republican People's Party. FETÖ means Israel. If it is separating from FETÖ, it means the Republican People's Party is casting out the Israel within it. I see this as a purification and as a beneficial initiative for the sake of Turkish politics.'

'I BELIEVE A NATIONAL CHP WILL EMERGE'

Continuing his remarks, Ünal suggested that the CHP would gain a different identity at the end of the current process, saying, 'I don't know if a Yenikapı spirit will emerge from this, but I believe a national CHP will emerge from it.'

POLLING ASSESSMENT FOR ÖZGÜR ÖZEL

Aydın Ünal also made assessments regarding the vote percentages appearing in public opinion polls.

Arguing that Özgür Özel and his team would not be able to reach the vote percentages mentioned in public, Ünal said, 'Will Özgür Özel and his friends reach 38 percent? They show it that way in those artificial polls, those fake polls, but this is not possible. The total of the Republican People's Party does not reach these figures anyway; it is not possible for it to reach them while it is currently split in two.'
