New statement from the Kılıçdaroğlu camp: 'Özgür Özel's group chairmanship will likely be cancelled'

Müslim Sarı, spokesperson for Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who was brought to the head of the party following the absolute nullity decision in the CHP, made statements regarding the current agenda.

According to the report by Cumhuriyet, Sarı claimed in his statement that Özgür Özel's group chairmanship would be declared invalid by the Speaker of the TBMM. Citing the failure to follow proper procedure during the election as the reason, Sarı said, "Because it is an irregular election. The election does not comply with formal requirements. How many days in advance did you announce it, and with what agenda? Everything has a procedure and a form. Furthermore, can a group election be held without the knowledge of the chairman? The group chairman works under the chairman. Can it happen just because you say 'I did it and it's done'?"

Claiming that it is legally impossible to hold a party congress, Sarı spoke as follows:

"We cannot hold a congress; it is legally impossible. Our friends' concern is not the congress; they also know that a congress cannot be held. Their concern is to divide the party, to force it, and to establish a party. Even if Chairman Kılıçdaroğlu were to say 'Let's go to a congress' right now, he could not hold one. There is a clear legal situation. We are people of the same party. How will we find a way, how will we get out of this predicament? Come, let's discuss a roadmap together.
