Notable behind-the-scenes in CHP: A show of support for Özgür Özel within the party

Hürriyet columnist Yalçın Bayer shared important details regarding the CHP provincial chairs meeting held under the chairmanship of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and Organization Head Ensar Aytekin. Bayer wrote that during the meeting, CHP Ankara Provincial Chair Ümit Erkol made a notable statement regarding Özel's presidential candidacy.

THE 'ÖZEL SHOULD BE THE CANDIDATE' STATEMENT 

Ankara Provincial Chair Ümit Erkol clearly expressed his support for Özel, stating, "Our Chairman Özgür Özel should also be evaluated as a potential candidate. The chairman is the natural candidate."

At the meeting, Samsun Provincial Chair Mehmet Özdağ and Sinop Provincial Chair Aykut Cem Yalçınkaya argued that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu should be declared as the presidential candidate.

However, it was stated that Ümit Erkol expressed his reservations regarding the presidential candidacy of mayors, warning that "the candidacy of mayors could drag the party into an unnecessary conflict."
