Number of detentions in Istanbul rises to 88: Ertan Yıldız also detained

The number of detentions within the scope of the investigations in Istanbul has risen to 88. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Assembly Subsidiaries Commission Chairman Ertan Yıldız has also been detained. Developments in the investigation process continue to spark reactions across Istanbul.

CNN TÜRK reporter Sinan Ağca provided the following information during a live broadcast:

"We had stated that 19 suspects were being sought. Police teams continued their work and apprehended one more suspect. There was a name who disappeared after hiding his phone in his wife's bag; Ertan Yıldız. There were allegations that he demanded a 5 million Euro bribe from a shopping mall located in Bakırköy.

Following this allegation, it was claimed that there were statements that he threatened the shopping mall management when the bribe was not paid. Upon this, a fine of 197 million liras was imposed on the shopping mall. He was one of the main actors in the process, and Ertan Yıldız has now been apprehended. Thus, the number of detentions has risen to 88."

Ertan Yıldız is a figure who has served as an executive in the finance and industrial sectors for many years. In 2019, he was appointed as an advisor by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. Having undertaken significant roles in strategic planning, industrial management, and finance throughout his career, Yıldız also drew attention during his tenure at the İBB. Born in 1970, Ertan Yıldız is 55 years old as of 2025. Ertan Yıldız was born in the Sürmene district of Trabzon. He continued his education in Istanbul.

Ertan Yıldız graduated from Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) Department of Industrial Engineering in 1991. Later, he earned the title of Senior Engineer by completing a master's degree in Engineering Management at the same university.

Starting his career in the finance sector, Yıldız later turned to the industrial field and served as a company partner and senior executive in various industrial companies for 22 years.

Following his graduation, he worked in the finance sector for 5 years. During this period, he gained expertise in investment management, strategic financial planning, and corporate management.
