Open call from MHP to AKP
The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has issued a call to the AKP, stating that an additional welfare share should be provided to the salaries of retirees and public employees.
The Planning and Budget Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey has convened to discuss the 2026 Central Government Budget Law Proposal. A notable proposal from the MHP was brought to the agenda during the meeting.
MHP Konya Deputy Mehmet Kalaycı stated that a welfare share should be added to the salaries of retirees and public employees within the limits of budget possibilities.
Stating that Turkey has implemented significant reforms during its period of political stability, Kalaycı emphasized that structural reforms must be realized in areas such as price stability, production, savings, and social security. Kalaycı drew attention to the importance of regulations that would increase the purchasing power of citizens with low and fixed incomes.
The MHP's proposal includes providing an additional welfare share in addition to the increases to be made to civil servant and retiree salaries for 2026. Kalaycı noted that the current salary system is complex and that justice must be ensured.
Furthermore, he argued that the inequalities that have emerged between pension payments should be gradually eliminated.
At the TBMM Planning and Budget Committee, with the participation of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, deputies' questions will be answered and budget proposals will be discussed in detail. The MHP's demand for a welfare share stands out as an important agenda item in the budget negotiations.
