Opposition parties' group proposals rejected in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey

In the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), group proposals regarding "financial advisors" by the Saadet Party, "local press" by the IYI Party, "unsolved murders" by the DEM Party, and "retired non-commissioned officers" by the CHP were rejected.

Taking the floor on his party's group proposal, Saadet Party Konya Deputy Hasan Ekici stated that financial advisors want humane working conditions.

Stating that it is tragic for financial advisors to have reached this point, Ekici asked the deputies not to remain indifferent to this situation.

Explaining that despite the clear job descriptions for financial advisors in the law, their workload is constantly increased through issued laws and regulations while their fees remain the same, Ekici said, "The state uses financial advisors almost like salaried personnel but does not make any salary payments."

IYI Party Tekirdağ Deputy Selcan Hamşıoğlu said that the existence of a strong local press is more essential than ever. Hamşıoğlu assessed, "Under these circumstances, it is unacceptable for the circular on austerity measures to turn into a guillotine that gives the local press its final breath."

Noting that the address for austerity should be "vehicle extravagances, overseas trips, and luxury hospitality expenses" rather than the local press, which cannot even cover paper and printing costs, Hamşıoğlu said, "Since the economic survival of our state cannot be saved by the advertising and subscription revenues of the local press, which is trying to survive on meager means, this is merely a cover for finishing it off. The system that makes provincial governorships the employer of the local press must be changed, and the Press Advertising Agency's commission practice must be ended."

CHP Ankara Deputy Umut Akdoğan claimed that non-commissioned officers have been forgotten by the government.

Stating that the government is also aware of the problems of non-commissioned officers, Akdoğan argued that the government has not kept the promises it made regarding the resolution of their issues.

Akdoğan said, "They say the frog's eyes pop out while waiting for water to reach the lake. You have not been able to solve the problems since 2015. Come and support us on the issue of an investigation commission. Come, let us solve the problems of non-commissioned officers quickly, regardless of party affiliation."

AK Party Bursa Deputy Refik Özen stated that many improvements have been made to the personal rights of officers, non-commissioned officers, specialized sergeants, and contract sergeants and privates during the AK Party governments.

Özen used the expressions, "Legislative work aimed at improving the personal rights of our Turkish Armed Forces personnel, who have the most important place in the strengthening of our army, is being examined within a system integrity, taking into account our country's conditions and contemporary practices; our work will continue in favor of our personnel as it has until today."

On the other hand, in the General Assembly, CHP Aydın Deputy Bülent Tezcan was elected for a vacant membership in the Constitutional Commission, and CHP Istanbul Deputy Ayşe Sibel Yanıkömeroğlu was elected for a vacant membership in the Committee on Public Works, Reconstruction, Transportation, and Tourism.

Later in the General Assembly, the deliberations on the second part of the Draft Law on Amendments to the Mining Law and Certain Other Laws, which includes regulations in the field of energy, were initiated.
