Özel's first visit after being re-elected chairman at the convention will be to Silivri

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel is preparing to resume his Silivri visits today, which he had paused for weeks following his record-breaking election victory at the 39th Ordinary Convention. Party management points out that this visit is significant both symbolically and in terms of the current agenda.

SILIVRI VISITS HAD BEEN PAUSED

CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu has been in Silivri Prison since March 23. Following İmamoğlu's arrest, Özel had been making regular weekly prison visits and supporting these visits with rallies that served as "protests."

However, both the visits and the rallies had been postponed for a short time throughout the convention process.

FIRST CONTACT AFTER RE-ELECTION

The first Silivri visit that Özgür Özel will make after being re-elected chairman at the convention will take place today.

It was reported that during the visit, Özel will meet not only with İmamoğlu but also with other mayors and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) employees who were arrested during the same period.

STATEMENT EXPECTED AFTER THE VISIT

Party sources stated that Özel will hold a press conference after leaving Silivri and will answer questions from journalists. The statement is expected to be significant both in terms of the post-convention roadmap and the arrest processes.

RALLY IN THE EVENING

Following his Silivri visit, Özel will head to Güngören for the 73rd of the "Defending the National Will" rallies.
