Özgür Çelik's 'Beykoz' reaction: 'We have nothing to fear!'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik made statements in front of the Beykoz Municipality.

Highlights from Çelik's remarks are as follows:

A legal scandal took place here last week. Police officers requested certain documents. The document they presented did not have the deputy prosecutor's signature. They called the deputy prosecutor from the municipality, and he said, 'I have no knowledge of such a thing.' In other words, the police came here without his signature and requested files from us with forged documents. Later, when the deputy prosecutor's signature was obtained, the requested documents were provided to them.

These resemble the practices used during the FETÖ era. We will provide every kind of document. We have nothing to fear. These things are not only happening in Beykoz. Practices like FETÖ operations have begun to occur. Their goal is to cover up the real agenda, to hide the crisis the country is in, and to intimidate the citizens. They want to suppress society with fear and pressure and shape the upcoming political process.

"THEY WANT TO HINDER CHP'S MARCH TO POWER"

On the very day that İmamoğlu held historic meetings in Ankara, on the day the start was given for the selection of the presidential candidacy; they want to hinder CHP's march to power. We will not allow this, nor will we give them the opportunity. We will set up the ballot box on March 23 and determine our presidential candidate through a primary election. That person will explain how they will solve Turkey's problems, and we will voice our demand for early elections."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Beykoz Mayor Alaattin Köseler was detained at his home today in a dawn operation on allegations of "rigging a tender" and "misconduct in office."
