Özgür Özel announces: Allegation that Mesut Özarslan will transfer to the AKP! He points to Wednesday

In his speech, Özgür Özel alleged that Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan wants to join the AK Party to overcome corruption allegations. Pointing out that Özarslan's file has been requested by the prosecutor's office, Özel stated, "We see that a person whose file has been requested by the prosecutor's office wants to join your party, just like in the case of the 'Heel-Clicking Efe' (Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu). We caught you red-handed."

Chairman Özel also claimed that Keçiören Municipal Council members were being pressured to change parties. Özel said, "You are trying to add the Keçiören Mayor to your party. They are saying, 'The situation is chaotic this week, let's take him amidst this noise.'"

Furthermore, he made the following statement regarding the elected mayor in Keçiören:

"Look Tayyip Erdoğan, there was a 'Tosuncuk' (a nickname implying a spoiled or corrupt figure) elected in Keçiören. For this, Osman Gökçek and Turgut Altınok... The Osman Gökçek you speak of is the party's Ankara deputy. The Turgut Altınok you speak of is your last Ankara Metropolitan Mayoral candidate. They said for him, 'They want to come to our party to escape corruption.' The file regarding this person concerning Portaş has already been requested by the prosecutor's office. This person, just like in the case of the 'Heel-Clicking Efe', wanted to come to your party and escape corruption. We caught you red-handed!

While you were preparing to gather Ankaragücü fans to bring them to the group to cheer for him, and while telling our party's municipal council members 'We are switching to the AK Party' with the promise that his file would be closed—while the questions we asked him on this matter and the answers we received are clear—you condescended to invite this person to your party, to add him to your party, and to pin a badge on him.

Now I am addressing Erdoğan from here: Erdoğan, you are trying to bring the Keçiören Mayor to your party, to add him to the party, and they are saying; 'The situation is chaotic this week, let's take him, add him, and move on.' I am asking our nation from here: Will you remain silent in the face of these actions by the Justice and Development Party, their showing files to Keçiören, requesting his file to Istanbul, and the AK Party's efforts to transfer him despite them saying 'He is at our door' to escape corruption?"

STATEMENT FROM SAVCI SAYAN

The allegations also found a response within the AKP camp. AKP member Savcı Sayan, in a post on the social media platform X, suggested that Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan could join his party at the group meeting on Wednesday. Sayan included the statement, "On Wednesday, at our group meeting, Mayor MESUT may achieve his desire and be happy (mesut)... My source does not mislead me..."
