Özgür Özel announces in tears in front of the hospital! 'We haven't been able to tell his mother yet'

Sad news has arrived regarding Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, who was critically injured after being electrocuted. Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu announced that Zeyrek has passed away.

ÖZEL FACES THE CAMERAS

Özel, who followed Zeyrek's health status moment by moment at the Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital, made his first statement following the news of his passing.

Özel's statement is as follows:

"Dear people of Manisa, dear friends, dear companions. Please forgive me, I am going to make a difficult speech. We have all been through very difficult days together; unfortunately, we have lost the best person I have ever known in the world, the best of us, the most hardworking, the most honest, a completely different person whom Manisa embraced regardless of party affiliation, and whom everyone who met him felt very close to within just a few minutes.

I have lost half of my mind and my heart. We have lost a companion with whom I dreamed and realized our dreams, more than just a political colleague, a childhood and youth friend; Manisa has lost one of the most exceptional personalities it has ever raised. Manisa has lost so much, and Ferdi's dreams were powerful enough to make Manisa a completely different city. That is why we all trusted him so much. We are facing an end that we think he never deserved. We are all very sad, we are all very overwhelmed.

His wife and daughter have gone home. They will prepare his twins for tomorrow. The doctors will tell his mother in the most appropriate way. Most likely, his mother also needs to undergo an angiography... This is a hospital, and please put yourselves in the place of the relatives of other patients, and we must clear the entrance to this hospital. We must clear this hospital. Rest assured, if Ferdi were here in the room upstairs with me, he would say to me: 'Brother, these people need to go home. If you tell them, they will go.'

FUNERAL PROGRAM ANNOUNCED

We will not be receiving condolences here this evening. We will hold a ceremony in front of the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality tomorrow at 11:00. Later, the noon prayer will conclude at Hatuniye Mosque, and we will perform the funeral prayer for our Mayor Ferdi in Cumhuriyet Square, the only place he could fill, by forming rows behind the governor's office. Then, we will walk together and bury our mayor in the First Cemetery.

UNABLE TO HOLD BACK TEARS

Özgür Özel, who could not hold back his tears during his speech, concluded his words as follows:

We will accept condolences at the former marriage hall in Cumhuriyet Square, now the Fatih Exhibition Hall. As you come, we will all be there for three days. I am pleased with all of you. You never left us alone. We are pleased with our doctors and our university. They did everything they could. We are pleased with Mayor Ferdi. He gave us the greatest happiness of our lives. He was always with us, he was never apart. He loved you all very much, and we all loved him very much. May we have your condolences. May God be pleased with you all. May God be pleased with our Mayor Ferdi. May he rest in peace, may we have your condolences. We will bid farewell tomorrow. If you say you want to bid farewell from this evening before tomorrow comes, please grant your blessing."
