Özgür Özel brings lawyer allegations to the agenda at Tokat rally: He explained why they were not arrested

Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel made significant statements at the "The Nation Protects Its Will" rally held in Tokat. Tokat was this week's stop in the series of rallies launched following the conviction of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. During the rally, a letter sent by İmamoğlu was read by CHP Tokat Provincial Chairman Çağdaş Kurtgöz.

In his speech at the rally, Özgür Özel addressed allegations regarding why a lawyer in Istanbul was not arrested. "This lawyer works with the prosecutors. They won't arrest him, because if he talks, the whole system will collapse," Özel said. He alleged that this lawyer promised detainees and their families that they would be released in exchange for money.

Özel also touched upon the problems in Tokat, stating that the government has neglected the city and that its population is declining. Drawing attention to Tokat's economic issues, Özel stated that young people are forced to migrate due to unemployment. He also emphasized that agricultural products in Tokat have lost value and that farmers are in a difficult situation.

'WE WILL BUILD TOKAT TOGETHER'

Stating that Tokat's historical and cultural values must be protected, Özel said that the government has not invested enough in the city. Noting that Tokat's tourism potential should be utilized, Özel said, "We will build the future of Tokat together."

'NO ONE HAS A FORTRESS ANYMORE'

In his speech, Özel also addressed the political situation across Turkey. Stating that the government's polarizing politics have come to an end, Özel said, "No one has a fortress anymore. Tokat is the fortress of the nation." Calling for an early election, Özel said, "We want an early election. We want our candidate by our side and the ballot box in front of us."

During the rally, Özel conveyed his best wishes to those affected by the earthquake in Balıkesir and addressed the people of Tokat, asking, "Are you ready to fight with courage against this dark order?" and received great support from those attending the rally.
