Özel stated the following:

"I remember with mercy former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş, who lost his life in an armed attack in the middle of the street 1 year ago.

For 365 days, this horrific murder has not been clarified, and the political figures responsible have not been touched.

We will not let this assassination be forgotten until those responsible are put on trial."
