Özgür Özel conveys Selahattin Demirtaş's greetings in Diyarbakır

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel traveled to Diyarbakır for a series of meetings. At the first stop of his visit, Özel visited the Four-Legged Minaret, where former Diyarbakır Bar Association President Tahir Elçi lost his life, and laid carnations at the spot where Elçi was murdered, a crime for which the perpetrator has still not been found.

'WE STARTED WITH DEMİRTAŞ'S GREETINGS'

Speaking to members of the press there, CHP leader Özgür Özel stated, "First of all, I bow once again before the memory of Tahir Elçi. He was an ambassador of peace. He was murdered here. Türkan Hanım has waged a legal battle for years. We have all stood by her as much as we could. When peace is permanently established in Diyarbakır, Tahir Elçi will rest in peace. I would like to say this in my first statement in Diyarbakır today. We started with the greetings of Selahattin Demirtaş, who knew we would be here today and sent us greetings by calling his lawyer last night. Demirtaş's greetings are most welcome on behalf of all of Diyarbakır, on behalf of all the people of the region, and on behalf of the Kurds. Greetings to him," he said.

In his statement, the CHP Chairman also drew attention to Diyarbakır's resistance against the appointment of trustees, saying, "Since the nullity decision was issued, since we left the 12th floor, we have visited 12 cities, and now we are in Diyarbakır. Diyarbakır is a city that has had trustees appointed to its will many times and has suffered greatly from trustees. It is the city that has taken the clearest stance against trustees, and today, after a trustee was appointed to the will of our party, we have left the buildings behind and are walking."
