Özgür Özel highlights economic crisis for retirees: '5.5 quarter gold coins have been stolen from your pockets'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel made statements at a public meeting in Balıkesir. From there, Özel drew attention to the economic crisis experienced by retirees.

Özel said, "When the AKP first came to power, the lowest pension could buy 8.5 quarter gold coins; now it buys 2.5 quarter gold coins. In other words, 5.5 quarter gold coins have been stolen from your pockets."

"IF YOU VOTE FOR ANOTHER PARTY, THE AKP WILL WIN"

Özel also stated that they are a few points ahead according to polls, adding, "If you vote for another party, the AK Party will win Balıkesir, but if you vote for the CHP, we will win Balıkesir together."

"BEING A FEW POINTS AHEAD DOES NOT LET US SLEEP COMFORTABLY"

Reminding that there are 5 days left until the election, Özel stated that according to polls, their Balıkesir candidate Ahmet Akın is in the lead, but that a few-point margin would not be enough, and noted the following:

"There are 5 days until the elections. According to polls, Ahmet Akın is leading the elections, but being a few points ahead does not let us sleep comfortably. I came here to speak openly; good people with whom we were together in the past. Our former alliance partners... If you vote for another party, the AK Party will win Balıkesir, but if you vote for the CHP, we will win Balıkesir together. I came here to entrust Ahmet Akın to you."

"5.5 QUARTER GOLD COINS HAVE BEEN STOLEN FROM YOUR POCKETS"

Touching upon the economic crisis experienced by retirees, Özel said the following:

"When Erdoğan came to power, the lowest pension was at the level of 1.5 times the minimum wage. If it hadn't changed, the lowest pension today would be 26 thousand lira.

When the AKP first came to power, the lowest pension could buy 8.5 quarter gold coins; now it buys 2.5 quarter gold coins. In other words, 5.5 quarter gold coins have been stolen from your pockets."

"THOSE WHO TURNED TURKEY INTO A LAND OF BANS..."

Stating that young people dream of living abroad, Özel warned as follows:

"We can only get rid of this government that has turned Turkey into a land of bans by showing our strength together at the ballot box. We call on all young people to take ownership of their future."
