Özgür Özel's highly discussed claim about Erdoğan: 'He will put the MHP at the forefront in the İmralı process'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel visited the imprisoned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu at the prison in Silivri. Following the visit, questions from the press were answered, and assessments were made regarding current political debates.

Özel evaluated the remarks made by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli during his group meeting, where he asked, "Do you give me permission to go to İmralı?" and the fact that the group gave these remarks a standing ovation, stating the following:

"He should be proud of his group. They stand up and applaud. I have nothing to say about that aspect of it. Whether he throws a rope or says he will go to the island, they stand up and applaud. They don't stand up for the same thing every time, but they always stand up."

"A process will unfold. Within this process, he will have the MHP measure the depth of the stream. He will both expect benefits and pull himself completely to the sidelines, just as in the past. Let Mr. Tayyip know that such comfortable politics are over for him. If he is governing this country, he will take responsibility. This nation sees it."
