Özgür Özel: No signatures, documents, or protocols with DEM

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made statements during a live broadcast on TV100.

Özel stated that the CHP is not in any alliance, that there are no signatures, documents, or protocols with the DEM Party, and noted that his party aims to exceed 30 percent in the local elections.

"IF DEM IS A DEVIL, THEN LET THEM CLOSE DEM SO EVERYONE KNOWS"

Özel's statements are as follows:

"This is an election that the CHP is entering alone. There is no alliance. This election is a very special election. There is a new equation. We are not with the parties with whom we formed the Nation Alliance. The voters who made up the Nation Alliance did not go anywhere. No one is obligated to us; we are asking for votes from everyone. The voters' fundamental objections remain. Now, regarding the 'city consensus,' the DEM's interpretation of the city consensus is 'We will not agree with anyone, we will field our own candidates. In places where we cannot win, we will support the people we can vote for as candidates'... We hear very different statements from DEM.

There is neither unconditional support from them for us, nor do we have support for them. There are no signatures, documents, or protocols with DEM; there is no such thing. The past actions of those who tried to reach an agreement with Qandil and sent official delegations are clear. Did they or did they not have Öcalan meet with an academic from Tunceli and have the letter he received read in the middle of Taksim? If DEM is a devil, then let them close DEM so everyone knows. They are establishing more sincere relationships in the back rooms of Parliament than the ones we established.

"I CONSIDER EXCEEDING 30 PERCENT IMPORTANT"

I consider exceeding 30 percent nationwide to be important. There is a 25 percent glass ceiling over us. 5-6 parties received 25 percent of the vote together, and we were very saddened. This is a 4-5 year goal. If we could have formed alliances, we could have done very different things. I care about the CHP exceeding the 25 percent psychological threshold with its own power and surpassing 30 percent.

"I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH IYI PARTY VOTERS"

I have always said "Good people" and hugged and kissed any IYI Party voter with a sun on their lapel whenever I saw them for the past 5 years. Because I have no problem with IYI Party voters. I see IYI Party members in the field and we are like brothers and sisters. I hug them as if I am hugging my sister.

"I CONDUCTED SATISFACTION SURVEYS TWICE IN IZMIR"

Despite the satisfaction survey in İzmir, we do it this way in satisfaction surveys: if the mayor is unsuccessful, under normal circumstances we do not include them in the candidate survey, but because of İzmir's sensitivity, I showed the Mayor himself, and I already conducted the satisfaction survey in İzmir twice; I also included the mayor in the satisfaction survey where I asked about candidates for the 3rd time. In the 4th one, where we only asked about 5 candidates, our İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor was also there, and a colleague who was ranked higher than him in the survey was appointed."
