Özgür Özel reacts to Minister Tekin over 'protocols with religious sects'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel attended the commemoration program in Menemen, İzmir, for the anniversary of the martyrdom of Reserve Officer Mustafa Fehmi Kubilay, as well as Watchman Hasan and Watchman Şevki.

Making statements regarding the agenda after the ceremony, Özel targeted Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler and Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin.

"WE DO NOT ACCEPT THIS INSOLENCE"

Highlights from Özel's statements are as follows:

"It is insolence to put those who hold people accountable for not wearing an Atatürk pin on their lapels in the same category as those who do not hang that portrait, and to launch investigations against them. We do not accept this insolence.

"THE SECTS TEKIN CALLS NGOS ARE THE ONES WHO BUILT THE DORMITORY THAT BURNED IN ALADAĞ"

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin described certain religious sects and cults as non-governmental organizations and defended the protocols made with them. The sects and cults that Tekin calls NGOs are the ones who built the dormitory that burned in Aladağ. They are the ones who caused poor young girls to burn to death. Those they sign protocols with are the ones who could not protect the small children who were harassed and raped in Ensar Foundation dormitories, and who abused them. Those they sign protocols with are the ones who exploit the housing problem and the desperation of families to take children into their dormitories, trying to brainwash them and bind them not to this homeland, nation, or flag, but to another deviant belief and creed, attempting to turn them into enemies of the republic and enemies of Atatürk.

We are calling out to Yusuf Tekin; we will not allow you to take the children of this nation's hardworking, honest, long-suffering, and poor families and exploit them just to create an ideological foundation for yourselves."
