Özgür Özel speaks from Burdur: 'They want to take the CHP from our hands'

Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Özgür Özel was welcomed by a large crowd during his visit to the Çavdır district of Burdur. Addressing party members gathered in front of the district headquarters, Özel said, "They told us there was great excitement in Çavdır; we came, and the enthusiasm we see here is truly historic." Thanking everyone who participated, Özel said that this support gives them strength.

In his speech, the CHP leader touched upon the recent pressures on his party, stating, "They want to take the CHP from our hands, stop our march to power, and protect their own rule. But we have set out on this path, and the public is clearly showing that they are behind us." Pointing to his party's recent electoral success, Özel noted that the support of young people and women is significant.

“WE WON TOGETHER, WE WILL WIN FOR EVERYONE”

Özel said in his speech, "Five months later, by winning 65 percent of the country and 85 percent of its economy, we made our party the leading party for the first time in 47 years." He pointed out that the CHP becoming the leading party is a source of hope not only for its own members but for all of Turkey.

He continued his words as follows: "You know, we made a promise three years ago; I said if we lose, I will not run for chairman again. By uniting with young people, women, and experienced party members, we achieved change within the party and signed a historic success in Turkey. We will continue to pursue policies from which both CHP voters and voters of other parties will benefit. With the 'Turkey Alliance' approach, we are acting without marginalizing anyone."

Touching on agriculture and production issues, Özel provided examples from his meeting with greenhouse workers. He emphasized that issues such as the deletion of interest on farmers' loan debts, dividing them into five years without interest, and providing diesel at 30 liras without VAT and SCT are on their agenda. "The lowest pension is at a level of misery. The minimum wage is not enough. We are working for a Turkey where young people can dream in their own country, not abroad," he said, reiterating his social and economic promises.

Drawing attention to the success achieved in the March 31 elections in Çavdır and across the entire country, Özel said, "We know that we will be the leading party in the first elections to be held as well. As the CHP, we will defend the interests of not only our members but all our citizens."

Referring to the pressures and obstacles faced by his party in the past, Özel said, "They used the power of the state to throw us out of our building, they took our rally buses, and they thought they would silence us with this move. However, today I am speaking from a chair, but in essence, we have a place in the hearts of our people."

He concluded his words with the following expressions: "We don't need big buildings. If necessary, we will stand on a chair or a crate of oranges and meet with our people again. We have left behind the political order where the CHP did not win. From now on, we are in the squares, we are shoulder to shoulder with our people. We will continue to walk with you. We will march to power all together. Thank you, may you be well and exist."
