Özgür Özel speaks from Silivri: 'Dig as much as you want...'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel met with his party's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu at the Marmara Closed Penal Execution Institution in Silivri.

The visit took place in the morning hours. It was reported that Özgür Özel entered the prison around 09:40, and the meeting lasted approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes, concluding around 13:20.

MADE A STATEMENT AFTER THE MEETING

Appearing before the cameras after the meeting, Özgür Özel made evaluations regarding the indictment against İmamoğlu. Stating that there is nothing secret in the indictment, Özel said, "They only managed to find one luxury yacht. Now they are saying that the yacht belongs to the Mayor of Beşiktaş."

"DETAINED BASED ON SLANDER"

The CHP leader also touched upon the situation of some detained mayors. Stating that Ahmet Özer is being held in detention based on slander, Özel said, "He has been in prison for 9 months. Even if he were sentenced, he would be released in 3 months."
