Özgür Özel to meet with Selahattin Demirtaş: The 'Arafta Düet' detail
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel is heading to Edirne Prison tomorrow to visit former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş and former Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Selçuk Mızraklı, who are both imprisoned there.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has applied to the Ministry of Justice to visit former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş and former Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Selçuk Mızraklı, who are being held in Edirne Prison.
Özel’s request was approved, and it was reported that the visit will take place tomorrow at 11:00 AM.
'ARAFTA DÜET' NOVEL TO BE PRESENTED
It has been learned that prior to Özgür Özel’s prison visit, he will be presented with the novel "Arafta Düet" (Duet in Limbo), co-authored by Demirtaş and Yiğit Bener, along with a call to action text at the prison entrance.
According to a report by T24, this call to action text will be one of the primary topics of the meeting between Demirtaş and Özel.
The content of this text, which is expected to be shared with the public by Demirtaş following the visit, has not yet been disclosed.
WHY IS SELAHATTİN DEMİRTAŞ IN PRISON?
Selahattin Demirtaş was taken into custody on November 4, 2016, along with HDP Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ and nine other HDP deputies, on charges of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "being a member of a terrorist organization," "being a member of an armed terrorist organization," and "committing crimes on behalf of an organization." He was subsequently arrested and taken to Edirne F-Type Prison. Demirtaş has been in prison for approximately 8 years.
