Özgür Özel visits Konya ahead of party congress: 'Support for change'

According to a statement from Özel's press office, Özel stated in his remarks following the meeting that he had taken a one-day break from his provincial tours across Turkey to host guests in Ankara.

''HOPE FOR CHANGE IN THE CHP CONTINUES TO GROW''

Stating that he was welcomed with great enthusiasm at the Konya provincial congress, but that reports were later published claiming that the entire delegation elected in Konya was "against the change," Özel continued as follows:

"Today, our Konya provincial organization is here to respond to that. Our district chairs, who have brought the confirmed support of our 25 districts here, are present. They have brought and delivered the signatures of our 12 congress delegates from Konya. There is immense support for change in Konya. Hope for change within the CHP continues to grow with each passing day. This is reflected in our members and on the streets. We welcomed this visit, representing 25 of our districts in Konya, with great satisfaction."

STATEMENT OF SUPPORT

CHP Akşehir District Chair Sevim Uzun also stated that the grassroots and the public want change, and that it is impossible to stand in the way of this power for change.

CHP Çumra District Chair Ramazan Kılıç, stating that they stand with Özel, said, "We are also declaring our support."

Expressing that at least 95 percent of party members want a change in the CHP's chairmanship and staff, Kılıç said, "Let a change take place so that our lost excitement, our broken hopes, and our lost courage can emerge once again. We support the change."

25 OUT OF 31 DISTRICTS SUPPORT CHANGE

Seydişehir District Chair Orhan Özel also stated that 25 of Konya's 31 districts want change, adding, "Perhaps our politicians at the top are unaware of this. The grassroots want change at any cost; hopefully, we will achieve this with our Chairman Özgür Özel."
