Özgür Özel's sharp response to Bahçeli's 'We are not a ruling partner' claim: 'There is no such politics, scavenging ended in the Polished Stone Age!'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel gave important messages regarding Turkey's critical agenda items in his speech at his party's TBMM group meeting. Speaking on the salaries of millions of retirees, recent developments and operations in Syria, Özel also touched upon his recent visit to Hatay.

"WE ARE ON WATCH FOR RETIREES"

Keeping the promises his party made regarding pension salaries, Özel said, "Every minute that the Parliament General Assembly has been closed, both last week and even now, the deputies of the Republican People's Party have been on watch for retirees, on a justice watch for retirees." Referring to the protests held in 81 provinces, Özel said, "We were with a magnificent crowd in Beşiktaş on Wednesday evening."

"THERE WAS A GREAT OUTCRY IN HATAY"

Mentioning his visits to the earthquake zone in Hatay, Özel reacted to President Erdoğan's visit to the region and his statements there. Stating, "A great outcry arose in Hatay due to Erdoğan's visit to the earthquake zone, what he said, what he didn't say, and what he did," Özel noted that the people of Hatay requested a rally from him.

RESPONSE TO BAHÇELİ'S PENSION SALARY CHALLENGE

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli had announced at today's group meeting that he would not support the CHP's pension salary motion. CHP leader Özel addressed Bahçeli with the words, "Let Mr. Devlet Bahçeli submit his motion, and we will pass it. Let our esteemed elder do something great for the retirees! Let us support it with both hands, Mr. Devlet."

Continuing his speech, Özel also addressed Bahçeli's "We are alliance partners, not ruling partners" claim and said the following:

"We had a busy week together, just as we talked about, agreed upon, and promised last week. In our 81st protest, we were with a magnificent crowd in Beşiktaş on Wednesday evening. At that time and throughout the whole week, and even now, every minute that the Parliament General Assembly is closed, the deputies of the Republican People's Party are on watch for retirees, on a justice watch for retirees.

We were in Hatay, in the earthquake zone, over the weekend. Actually, we will be in the earthquake zone between February 6 and February 7, the week the earthquake occurred. All our deputies, our Party Assembly members, our shadow ministers in the Presidential candidate office, and our policy heads will all be in the region together, and I will also be in the region. Holding a rally in Hatay was a situation we planned for April. However, a great outcry arose in Hatay due to Mr. Erdoğan's visit to the earthquake zone, what he said, what he didn't say, what he did, and what he didn't do. And our 3 valuable deputies in Hatay and our provincial organization said that the people of Hatay wanted a rally in Hatay.

We said the weather is cold, they said let it be. There is rain, they said let it be. Our Chairman must definitely be at a rally here to speak the truth and be the voice of Hatay's feelings. And we got up and went to Hatay last Saturday. In summary, the situation is this; Mr. Erdoğan has such a desire regarding the earthquake zone: All problems in the earthquake zone have been solved, all troubles have ended, everyone is having a good time, no one has any trouble, worry, anxiety, or rebellion, and the region should not make a sound about this, and the remaining 70 provinces should believe this, and this should be written positively to Erdoğan's account. This is the whole calculation.

"YOU LOOK FROM A DRONE AND THE BUILDING IS FINISHED, YOU GO DOWN AND A TARP IS STRETCHED!"

Instead of going during the earthquake week and being among the people in Hatay, he made a special program for the earthquake week, for the earthquake day... While receiving 19 percent of the votes 10 months ago in Malatya, when the top-list deputy was Veli Ağbaba, in the poll conducted 10 months later, mistaking it for an error and renewing the poll, Veli Ağbaba receiving 38 percent of the votes in the election, does it happen by going to the earthquake like a tourist, taking a look, and leaving? Don't look at the fact that we lost by a hair's breadth with a 2500-vote difference in Hatay due to our mistake, various crookedness, and the disgrace committed on election day. I am saying this to those who speak without shame or embarrassment about the Republican People's Party; Republican People's Party... We went out at another time and did it one by one as it fell upon us... I am saying this to Erdoğan, who says in total, "They didn't even say hello to the region." I am saying this to Erdoğan's voters who voted for him, to the honest, honorable, conscientious, decent people in the earthquake zone who witnessed this: We were in the region for 60 days with 9,600 vehicles and 28,500 personnel. We delivered aid to the region, from food to medical supplies, from tents to stoves, with 7,200 trucks, 4 planes, and 6 ships. We delivered 155 mobile kitchens, 163 catering vehicles, 18 mobile bakeries, nearly 3 million blankets, 266 thousand heaters/stoves, 50 thousand tents, and 1,810 containers to the region. The numbers, the numbers are from AFAD. Whoever is curious can go, AFAD coordinated these.

In the first days, they said; "Do not provide aid without AFAD, let's establish a correct coordination." When you ask for Hatay, specifically for Hatay: 4,065 vehicles, 14,063 personnel, 3,246 trucks, 85 mobile kitchens, 6 mobile bakeries, 25 catering vehicles. You showed a photo of the earthquake tent queue in Kocaeli on the 3rd day of the '99 earthquake, and in the elections held after '99; you said, "It had been 3 days and the nation was in the tent queue," and in Hatay, in Kahramanmaraş, on the 33rd day... Look, you said 3 after the deceased... Was there anyone still waiting in the tent queue on the 33rd day or not?

"THEY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, THEY SEE THE LIE!"

I swear, friends, you say 'there was'; I said this in Hatay, 10 thousand people shouted 'there was' all at once. That is what burns their hearts. They know what happened, they see the lie.

1 YEAR HAS PASSED SINCE THE KARTALKAYA DISASTER WHERE 78 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES...

Unfortunately, an unpleasant subject, another very burning subject. Tomorrow, the 1st anniversary of the pain that fell into our hearts in Kartalkaya will be completed. In Kartalkaya, 78 people, 36 of whom were children, tragically lost their lives by burning. Since that day, all of our hearts continue to burn, but undoubtedly, the hearts of the families waiting for justice are burning. We once again wish mercy from God to the lost, and patience to their grieving families. Of course, this is not an accident, it is a heavy result of lack of supervision and negligence. For the account of the lost lives to be asked, and for the same pains not to be experienced again, justice must be fully established.

We sincerely tried and followed this issue for a year, and we continue to follow it. However, you know that first, the court prepared an expert committee consisting of 7 experts who know Bolu, who know their job, from Bolu. They gave them 3 days. While the expert committee was starting its duty, it started with photos, worked with minutes, and finally wrote its report.

Directly, just as it is, as it is written so much on its door, as it is written in fascicles in the laws, it was written that the responsibility lies with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. They did not accept the expert report, friends. Phone calls came from Ankara. Take that report back. Eh? Cross out the Ministry of Culture. Eh? Write Bolu Municipality instead.

Upon this, those 7 experts said they could not do this, that the law was clear. First, they called the expert pirate. Then they said we appointed additional ones. Then, ignoring the report of the old expert, they had it written to an expert they chose from various parts of Turkey, some additions to it... Then they did not give permission for investigation to the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Culture and Tourism officials.

"THESE PEOPLE STARTED TO BE TRIED"

We are saying it clearly from here; until the last responsible person in the Kartalkaya case is tried and receives his punishment, the Kartalkaya case is the honor case of the Republican People's Party. We will follow it to the end.

PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED BY MOTOR COURIERS: NEW 'BOYCOTT' MESSAGE FROM ÖZEL

When we return from the pains experienced in the past to today, there are heavy problems in every corner of the country, in every segment of society. We have motor courier brothers who work regardless of snow or winter. And these motor couriers, probably, with the pandemic, figures that would be reached after 10 years were reached early. And the business of remote ordering and delivery by motor courier has turned into an important employment area in the unemployment environment in Turkey.

So much so that, we are such a country; most of the teachers working in the Ministry of National Education work in three-letter markets. University graduates in every field, and sometimes university students, work as motor couriers to be able to study, to be able to make a living. And these motor couriers are faced with very great injustices.

First of all; he takes the man and makes him work. He sets performance criteria. He determines the route with artificial intelligence. If you don't deliver 40 packages a day at the speed of light, I will cut from here, I will do this from there... That is, they are practically sending them to death with computer support. Sometimes we get angry at them because of their dangerous movements in traffic, but the whole system is algorithms.

"THERE IS AN INCREDIBLE LABOR EXPLOITATION AND INSECURITY"

They want twice, three times more work than a motor courier can do. Then they say this: 'You are not my employee, ha. You are a tradesman. You will pay your own Bağ-Kur.' That is, in today's terms, your SGK premium. 'You will do the maintenance of the motorcycle, you will buy the helmet. If you have an accident, you are the one responsible. If you fall into the hospital, if SGK looks after you, it happens, I don't interfere with the rest. You are a tradesman courier,' he says. And there is an incredible labor exploitation and insecurity.

A significant part of these friends went on strike for 3 days for the injustice they suffered through a company, today is the 3rd day of the strike. Normally, we were going to provide support by not ordering to this strike. Then we did a calculation. We said; if this service is not disrupted, this firm will agree to a 3-day turnover loss. So that the importance of the motor courier's existence can be seen, there is also an idea to make a boycott against those who eat the rights of motor couriers.

Now motor couriers have 5 demands:

The fee paid per package should be brought to a transparent, predictable, and fixed structure.

Incentive systems should have accessible, fair, and objective criteria.

A new pricing system should be switched to, taking into account real fuel, maintenance, and time costs, instead of distance-based pricing.

There should be a right to paid leave in adverse weather conditions. It is snowing, the governorship bans it, but the motor courier doesn't get paid that day. That is, the governorship's ban comes out of the motor courier's salary.

Occupational health and safety measures should be implemented. Courier representatives should be directly involved in decision-making processes concerning working conditions. That is, the representatives chosen by the couriers should be included.

We are saying to that firm; this boycott was held for 3 days, this strike was held for 3 days. Then they will sit at the table with these demands. If you fulfill these demands, you fulfill them. If you don't, I swear, your strongest customers are us. They are those who value our word. Don't mess with our heads, we stand behind the motor courier against you. I am saying it clearly.

"WHOEVER EATS THE COURIER'S RIGHT, EVEN IF IT'S MY FATHER'S SON, WILL GET THE BOYCOTT"

Then, like that boycott that passed, to me; 'Actually, the father of this firm was also a CHP member, he was the grandson of some deputy in the past, you are boycotting but...' I swear, don't come at all. Whoever eats the courier's right, even if it's my father's son, will get the boycott. I am saying it clearly.

"THEN LET'S NOT GO"

How did the event develop? The lowest pension salary for retirees will be 12 thousand 500 liras. They offered a price where no flat raise was given to any retiree, and retirees were driven to hunger and misery.

"WE ARE IN THE MINORITY BUT RETIREES ARE IN THE MAJORITY"

During this process, a very promising development occurred. And that development was this; Mr. Devlet Bahçeli came out and said: 'This fee given to retirees is a misery fee.' I swear we didn't say, 'Wow, look, Devlet Bahçeli said misery fee, the coalition is cracking, the alliance is collapsing,' etc. We said this is an opportunity. We may have different views, but for the first time, when we gather the deputies of CHP, DEM, İYİ Party, and MHP, retirees are not in the minority, they are in the majority. We are in the minority, but retirees are in the majority. We said if everyone keeps their word. And we both met with all groups and talked about how we can ensure this for retirees with the most, most constructive dialogues on this issue.

HE RESPONDED TO BAHÇELİ: "I AM SOWING DISCORD INTO THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE REGARDING THE LOWEST PENSION SALARY"

We were also expecting an answer from the MHP on this issue. The answer came from Mr. Bahçeli today. Sir, I am sowing discord into the People's Alliance regarding the lowest pension salary. What will he do? He will not vote for the Republican People's Party's improvement motion. So be it. I have no objection. We will submit our own motion, we will vote with the friends who vote. DEM submits an improvement motion, we will vote for that too. There will be İYİ Party's motion, we will vote for that too. We all unite, we will vote for that too.

While the retiree is in such a miserable situation, while you are calling this a misery fee on one hand, sir 'CHP this... I am not in it.' You submit the motion, we will unconditionally support the improvement you say.

"THE AK PARTY NO LONGER HAS THE SKILL OR ENERGY TO SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS"
