Striking message from Özgür Özel at the group meeting: 'You are a black hole'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel spoke at his party's group meeting.

Miners who are protesting also attended the Group Meeting held at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Highlights from Özel's speech are as follows:

"We went to the first court with 10 thousand people, I followed 86 court cases. We were 156 people when I finished. Since that day, four more Somas have occurred just in the mines. During the AK Party government, there wasn't just one Soma, there were seven. But we only remember one Soma. Everyone talks about it because 301 died together. There were seven Somas during the AK Party era, no one looks at that part. It is the testament of the 301 miners in Soma to the working class: organize, join a union, fight together."

12 years have passed since Soma, but the miners' ordeal has not ended. Doruk Mining workers set out from Eskişehir and came to Ankara. They want to receive their salaries, they are rebelling against being constantly put on unpaid leave. We saw how the workers came together with their children on April 23. What have they done that the police are against them every time? They detain anyone who takes a step. We opened the newspapers this morning, the shopping list found in the home of our brother Salih Yurdakul... This struggle is the struggle for honor of all of us. So that such a photo is not taken, there is no way, the next election will be won."

"THEY ARE SELLING THE STATE AND PAYING INTEREST"

The factories and companies of the Republic were sold off for a pittance; Sümerbank, Seka, Tekel, Türk Telekom, Petkim, Tüpraş, sugar factories, iron and steel factories, and thermal power plants were sold one by one for next to nothing, in a non-transparent manner, and always by finding cronies. 89 percent of all privatizations carried out during the entire Republican era were carried out during the AK Party era.

In 24 years, they sold the state and obtained 60 billion dollars, 2.7 trillion liras at today's exchange rate... But the money to be paid in interest in 2026 is 2.7 trillion liras. They sold all the institutions of the Republic, and they are paying all the money for this year's interest.

The AK Party, which has bankrupted the country, is no different from a wayward child who gambles away their parents' money.

"THEY GIVE 15 TIMES MORE TO THE USURER THAN TO THE FARMER"

The country, which is 5th from the bottom in food inflation in the world and 2nd from the bottom in the OECD, allocated 60 billion liras to agricultural subsidies in three months. 2.7 billion to interest... There is a 15-fold difference between them. We are facing a government that gives 15 times more to the usurer than it gives to the farmer.

Why are we like this? There is an unending economic crisis in Turkey. They destroyed legal security with political cases and drove away foreign investors.

After the March 19 coup attempt, trust in the judiciary was measured at 18 percent. Let's say there is a foreign investor abroad, looking for a country to invest in. Honorable members of the judiciary and police should also trust the memory of this nation. Sometimes there may be unfair dismissals or reassignments, but the memory of this state will show its loyalty to those who do not betray this state.

When we come to power, we will not create a 'devri sabık' (era of settling scores), but at this stage, we will never forget those who are still acting as character assassins, those who give illegal orders, those who obey them, and those who get positions with the positions they are given.
