Striking statement from Özgür Özel in Samsun! 'After that moment, there is no place for them in this party'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel visited the Atakum Municipality in Samsun, where he arrived to participate in the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day events.

Stating that they would hold their Central Executive Board (MYK) meetings in Samsun for the first time, Özel wished Atakum Mayor Serhat Türkel success.

"PERFORMANCE IN SAMSUN REQUIRES SELF-CRITICISM"

Offering self-criticism within the party, Özel said, "Just as we talk about the good things, we must also talk about our shortcomings. The Republican People's Party is in a position that requires self-criticism regarding its general performance in Samsun. A Republican People's Party that has won only one out of 18 municipalities and has one member of parliament is unacceptable to the Republican People's Party." he said.

CHP Chairman Özel continued his words as follows:

"From now on, we will sit down; we will continue what we did right. We will compensate for what we did incompletely. We will abandon what we are doing wrong. From now on, this place is a city of the Republic. When Uşak has been won, when Afyon has been won, when Kütahya has been won, when Amasya has been won, when Kastamonu has been won—that is, when the city of the alphabet revolution has been won, when the city of the Amasya Circular has been won, when the city of the Great Offensive has been won, when the city of the Great Victory has been won—if the city of the First Step is not won, the Chairman, first and foremost, and all of us are ashamed. My face is down after the Samsun election results. What I must do to lift my face, hold my head high, and puff out my chest is to make the Gazi's party the number one party in this city. Whoever believes in this, let them come and contribute. Whoever believes in this, let them come and become a member of the party. I invite all Samsun residents, especially the youth and women, to the party of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, to our father's house."

"THOSE WHO SAY 'THIS IS AS FAR AS IT GOES' MAY GO THEIR OWN WAY"

Emphasizing that they will not keep those who say "I am tired" in the party, Özel said, "Those among the current administrators who have energy should stay here. Those who say 'I am tired,' 'I am working but it's not happening,' 'We cannot succeed,' or 'This is as far as it goes,' may they go their own way. We will part ways with them. If someone says, 'I did it incompletely, I will work harder,' 'A new process is starting from now on, I have the energy for it,' or 'I will succeed,' and they trust themselves, let them stay. But if we are still stagnant in the poll six months later, I will not keep anyone in that position. I am saying this clearly. We will stand behind those who walk the path. If there is anyone pulling the party down, after that moment, there is no place for them in this party. Vote, but who will manage this party? Friends, whoever will lift the party up will manage it. I am saying it clearly." he expressed.

Stating that the election results in Samsun and Gaziantep saddened him, Özel assessed, "One of them is Gaziantep, the city that took Atatürk's name and was given the title of Gazi. And one of them is Samsun... They are the wounds in my heart in the north and the south. While you were all rejoicing across Turkey on the night of March 31, I was devastated for these two cities. Everyone will show their responsibility, work accordingly, and we will succeed together. We will make our party the number one party in Samsun."
