Özgür Özel’s offer to Tunç Soyer revealed!

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel met with İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer at the CHP Headquarters in recent days.

The offer that Özel presented to Tunç Soyer, whom he did not nominate in the local elections on March 31, 2024, has been revealed.

According to the report by Saygı Öztürk from Sözcü, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel proposed the role of “CHP’s foreign affairs consultant” to Soyer during their surprise meeting last week. However, Soyer did not accept this offer.

SOYER TURNED DOWN THE OFFER

Allegedly, Özel wanted to entrust the CHP’s foreign policies to Tunç Soyer while also seeking to make amends. Soyer, who turned down the proposal, explained during the meeting that he felt he had been treated unfairly during the nomination process and noted that he had fulfilled 155 of the 165 promises he made during his term.

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer was unanimously elected President of the Chamber of Regions of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (CLRAE) at its 45th General Session on October 25, 2023. Along with the Presidency of the Chamber of Regions, Soyer also earned the right to officially assume the role of Vice President of the Congress.
