Özgür Özel's 'tension' response to AKP's Tayyar! 'They cannot sleep soundly as long as we are arm in arm!'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel answered questions from journalists on Sözcü TV. Highlights from Özel's statements are as follows:

"Turkey hasn't remained in the past; the new era is even worse. In the 90s, no one was attacking politicians targeting the government with clubs. These things are happening in this period. It happened to Mr. Kemal. It happened to Mr. Deniz. I said it at the moment of the attack as well. It is not right for me to attribute this to a party. It would not be right to blame anyone in the heat of the moment.

"I AM AS SURE AS I CAN BE THAT IT WAS DONE BY ORDER"

The main burden should be placed on their shoulders, and that is to uncover this incident with all its connections. I am as sure as I can be that this matter was carried out by order. I have said it from time to time. There is a killer, not just any person. This killer touches you. This means 'pull yourself together.' Secondly, if he doesn't pity his own child, will he pity you? It says 'think about this twice.' That attacker was there two hours before, he walked around with me, he could have shot me while I was getting out of the car. He is doing it on the street, that is. For that reason, there is also an output of the messages 'don't walk on the street, go sit in your party.' The responsibility for clarifying this matter belongs to the government.

SPOKE ABOUT THE ATTACK

"AKP HAS NO STRONGHOLDS"

WILL İMAMOĞLU BE A DEPUTY?

To the question 'Will Ekrem İmamoğlu be a parliamentary candidate in a possible snap election?', Özel gave this response:

"Can Atalay should have been released. Whether there will be a new AYM application regarding Can Atalay or not. In this process, since Atalay was elected as a deputy, the trial should have stopped. If the decision could be read and he could return to parliament, we would vacate a district without thinking for a minute, and we would do it as a move, if Ekrem Bey also appreciates it. Since the Can Atalay decision has not been approved, that is, will he release İmamoğlu if he doesn't release Can Atalay?"

ÖZEL'S RESPONSE TO ŞAMİL TAYYAR: IT IS IMPUDENCE, BUT THIS IS THEIR JOB TOO

CHP leader Özgür Özel responded to the words of AKP's Şamil Tayyar: 'If Özgür Özel doesn't meet with Ekrem İmamoğlu in Silivri for ten days like this, it could be a healthy start regarding the process.'

Özel used the following expressions:

"This is impudence, but this is their job too. I meet with Mayor Ekrem once a week. I go as if I am going to my brother. We both talk about politics, and I know that if I were inside, he would come without fail. There is one thing they know. If these two don't fall out with each other, the AKP will fall from power. They are trying every way, and this is one of them.

Şamil Tayyar will pull a political operation on me from all the way over there, and he will make Ekrem Bey and me fall out, etc. There will be seeds of discord over this. There is a law of brotherhood between us. We risked everything to make Atatürk's party the government. Ekrem Bey risked that in prison. Tomorrow I might go to prison. They will do anything to any of us.

If we are not in the courage that those who founded this party 100 years ago saved this country, and if we do something that will damage the law of comradeship between us, Şamil Tayyar sleeps soundly. As long as we are arm in arm, as long as we risk everything for this country, because Tayyip Bey cannot sleep, Şamil Bey cannot sleep either. Şamil Bey came to where he is with Erdoğan putting him on the list. I came to where I am, to the chairmanship of Atatürk's Party, with the change of the chairman in a party through a competitive election.
