Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş: The greatest power behind Israel is the helplessness of the Islamic world

The Konyalı Mosque, located in the Yeşiltepe neighborhood of Zeytinburnu, had been sealed due to the risk of collapse following the 2019 Silivri earthquake and was demolished in 2020.

The mosque, construction of which began in April, was opened today. The opening ceremony was attended by Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, Zeytinburnu District Governor Adem Uslu, Zeytinburnu Mayor Ömer Arısoy, party officials, and citizens.

Speaking at the program, Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş said, "Today, in every part of the Muslim world, which has a large population approaching 2 billion, people in mosques are turning in the same direction with cries of Allahu Akbar.

People are moving toward a common point through a shared language and culture. Despite having such a large population and such a significant crowd, unfortunately, because the Islamic world cannot sufficiently carry the unifying and integrating characteristics that the mosque should provide us, and because it lacks this longing, Muslim communities are often tossed about like straw on water, as the Prophet expressed."

"WE ARE FOLLOWING WITH SADNESS"

Criticizing Israel for the massacre in Palestine, Kurtulmuş said, "We can point to the world's silence in the face of the grave crimes against humanity that Israel has committed in Gaza, and unfortunately, the inability of the Muslim world to produce a result, as the latest example of this. We are following it with sadness.

A great atrocity is being committed not only by the policies put forward by Netanyahu and his team, but also with the support they receive from certain power centers that back them and pat them on the back. As we speak here, the streets of Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of the greatest sacred sites for Muslims, are currently being closed, and Muslims are being prevented from entering the mosque on the roads leading there. Babies are being killed while struggling in incubators.

80- or 90-year-old grandmothers are being martyred by snipers with pleasure and enjoyment. The whole world is watching this. And beyond this observation, some are even providing support. Believe me, Israel's greatest power is neither its military strength nor its technological capability. It is not the patrons it relies on, nor the countries that support it. Nor is it the dominant media powers in the world. It is not those great powers that own and dominate world finance," he said.

"WE MUST UNITE IN THE DIRECTION OF COMMON UNDERSTANDINGS"

Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş said, "Believe me, the fact that the Islamic world is so helpless, fragmented, and lacks initiative is the greatest power behind the Israeli administration. That is why we say that mosques, just as they unite us physically, should enrich our hearts and minds. We do not need to come together just for our hearts and souls to unite.

We must unite and integrate in the direction of common goals and common understandings and continue on our path. May Allah make us among those who unite their spirits and hearts around mosques. May God Almighty grant the great Muslim communities in every part of the Muslim geography and the world the ability to take ownership of their issues with consciousness, faith, and a common determination," he said.
