People's Alliance divided in Amasya: CHP supported MHP candidate, AKP lost
A split occurred within the People's Alliance during the presidential election held in the Amasya Provincial General Assembly. In a race where the AKP and MHP fielded separate candidates, the MHP candidate supported by the CHP was elected president.
The inability of the People's Alliance to act in unison during the Provincial General Assembly election in Amasya drew attention. In the election where the AKP and MHP fielded different candidates, the result shifted the balance.
SPLIT IN THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE
The Provincial General Assembly was represented by 10 members from the AKP, 8 from the CHP, and 4 from the MHP. In the vote held for the presidency, the MHP and AKP competed with separate candidates.
VOTING RESULT ANNOUNCED
According to the report by Veli Toprak from Sözcü, in the election held, MHP candidate Akın Yağız Demirelli received 12 votes, while AKP candidate Nihat Derici remained at 10 votes. With this result, Demirelli was elected President of the Provincial General Assembly. CHP member Alaattin Korkmaz was appointed to the position of deputy president.
EVALUATION FROM THE CHP
Making a statement after the election, CHP Amasya Deputy Reşat Karagöz said, “In the new term, I believe that important work will be accomplished for the villages and towns of our Amasya with a transparent, fair, and solution-oriented approach that prioritizes the needs of our people.
