A phone call from Ekrem İmamoğlu to Murat Kurum! What was discussed in the surprise meeting?

People's Alliance Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Murat Kurum met with editors-in-chief and media representatives from television, newspapers, and digital media at the Haliç Congress Center as part of his local election campaign.

Outlining his promises for Istanbul, Kurum targeted the current IMM administration.

Claiming that the current IMM acts with a mindset that prioritizes its own political goals over the will of true municipalism, Kurum stated the following:

"The Istanbul administration has failed. But the people of Istanbul are not helpless. We will serve with a 'SİZTEM' (SYSTEM) approach that shows the people of Istanbul they are not helpless. This is the motto of our urban planning and municipal vision. That is why we say 'SİZTEM Istanbul'. This is a management vision that centers the human being as the subject. It is the name of a model that analyzes our city's problems well and produces solutions one by one. It is a holistic urban philosophy that we put forward while solving problems, and it is at the center of all the projects I have listed from the beginning."

In response to the question, "How much time is needed to say that Istanbul is ready for an earthquake?", Kurum said that Istanbul must be made safe as soon as possible and that they do not want the people of Istanbul to live in fear of being trapped under rubble in a possible earthquake.

Kurum said, "How much time is needed for this? I think 51 days. On March 31, the people of Istanbul will actually decide this. In this sense, we have announced our projects and goals. To achieve this, I want us to clearly demonstrate this will with all the people of Istanbul. Let this will become a movement in Istanbul in this sense."

In response to the question, "Did you have a meeting with the IMM Mayor?", Kurum said, "We spoke with Ekrem İmamoğlu yesterday. We exchanged well-wishes. It is our collective desire for a democratic race that ultimately results in a win for Istanbul."

RESPONSE TO PLAGIARISM CRITICISM

In response to the question, "IMM Mayor İmamoğlu claims in his speeches that the projects you announced are his and that you copied them; what do you say?", Kurum replied, "The term 'copy' is not pleasant. First of all, good things are copied. Since there is nothing good in Istanbul, there is nothing to copy."

KANAL İSTANBUL STATEMENT

In response to the question regarding "whether there is a change in his stance on Kanal Istanbul", Kurum stated, "Issues that are not on Istanbul's agenda will not be on our agenda either. What the people of Istanbul expect is the elimination of earthquake risk and the end of the transportation ordeal. I will pursue whatever is on the agenda."
