Police intervention in protest at Esenyurt Municipality! Bus enters the area
Following the arrest of CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of a trustee, CHP and DEM Party members are set to hold a protest at 16:00. Police intervened against CHP members who arrived at the area ahead of the protest.
CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained yesterday and subsequently arrested on charges of being a 'member of the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization.' Following the arrest decision, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel invited deputies, mayors, and citizens to gather in front of the Esenyurt Municipality building.

CHP and DEM Party members who went to the region ahead of the 16:00 protest faced a police blockade. Party members and citizens chanted slogans for 'Justice'.

ENTRIES WILL BE CONTROLLED
Access to the area will be provided following police checks and searches.

Despite permission being granted for entry into the area, the bus was blocked from entering by TOMA water cannon vehicles. The CHP bus was not allowed to proceed, and the setup of a platform was prevented. Tension rose among the crowd, which included many CHP deputies.
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır also boarded the bus, which was not allowed to enter the area. Başarır stated, 'The rally will be held here. And the people's bus is not being allowed into the area. What are you appointing a trustee for? We want all the armored vehicles and TOMA water cannons to be removed from here. Governors, Police Chiefs, pull yourselves together; this is shameful. Our Chairman will speak here.'
BUS ENTERS THE AREA
After the barriers were opened, the bus entered the area.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel arrived at Esenyurt Square. Özel stated, 'As you know, a coup was carried out against the will of the people yesterday by appointing a trustee. We are in Esenyurt with all our executives. We had called for a gathering in front of the municipality at 16:00. Those who seized Esenyurt Municipality by arresting the mayor thought they could narrow our will by placing police barriers to shrink that square. There is no square larger than Esenyurt Republic Square. In defiance of those trying to make our numbers look small, the location where we will gather at 16:00 has been changed to Esenyurt Republic Square. We are waiting for all party members at Republic Square. We will defend the will of the people and the future of Turkey against this dirty game.'
