Political support for İmamoğlu's testimony! Opposition parties unite at Çağlayan

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu will testify at the Çağlayan Courthouse on January 31 due to statements he made regarding Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek. Regarding his testimony, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel called on the “Istanbul Alliance” to testify and invited all democrats to show solidarity.

According to the report in Gazete Duvar, various opposition parties will also support İmamoğlu's testimony. The CHP, IYI Party, DEM Party, and Future Party (Gelecek Partisi) will meet in front of the courthouse to show solidarity with İmamoğlu. Additionally, the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi) and DEVA Party are also expected to make a decision on this matter.

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL'S CALL TO THE ‘ISTANBUL ALLIANCE’

Following the launch of the investigation into İmamoğlu, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had made the call: “It is the Istanbul Alliance that has been summoned to testify. Nationalist democrats, Kurdish democrats, and all of Istanbul's democrats have been summoned to testify on Friday. I say to everyone summoned to testify on Friday, ‘Bless your hearts and your efforts. Go and give that testimony.’”

The CHP leadership noted that this call was not a rally call, that CHP organizations were not organizing a rally, and that it would be a natural gathering where they expect everyone who speaks out against lawlessness to attend. It was stated that no contact was made with other opposition parties for participation in the gathering, but that everyone who attends, including political parties, will provide strength.

OPPOSITION PARTIES WILL BE AT ÇAĞLAYAN

Although no call/invitation for participation was made by the CHP to political parties, the political parties with groups in Parliament decided to be in Çağlayan on Friday. It was stated that a delegation consisting of DEM Party deputies will be at the Çağlayan Courthouse on Friday.

The IYI Party evaluated the investigations into İmamoğlu and the pressures on the opposition during its closed group meeting held yesterday. In the meeting, where it was assessed that they should stand by everyone and every segment subjected to lawlessness, it was decided that a delegation consisting of deputies and party executives would go to the Çağlayan Courthouse on Friday. Suggestions were made for IYI Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu to attend as well, but it has not yet been clarified whether Dervişoğlu will go to Çağlayan.

The Future Party also assigned a delegation that will be in Çağlayan on Friday. The Felicity Party and DEVA Party, on the other hand, have not yet evaluated the issue in their party boards, but it was stated that the assignment of delegations is likely.
