Preparations ahead of Erdoğan's Hatay visit draw attention

Ahead of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Hatay as part of the "Construction of the Century, Turkey's Success: 455 Thousand Homes Completed" program, the city underwent an intensive preparation process. In Hatay, which suffered massive destruction following the February 6 earthquakes, the work carried out before the ceremony drew attention.

During the work that continued throughout the night, roads that had been struggling with mud and dust for months were paved, and streets were tidied up. While a bicycle path was added to the front facade of Atatürk Street, the unfinished rear sections were covered with tarps. Water was released back into the dried bed of the Asi River, giving the river surface the appearance of water hyacinths.

CHANGES TO THE ASI RIVER AND ROADS

With the release of water into the riverbed, which had been dried as part of the "Asi River Flood Project," an aesthetic appearance was created on the river. Additionally, a giant tarp printed with an image of a bridge was hung over the bridge currently under renovation. The bicycle paths and asphalt work carried out on Atatürk Street aim to alleviate transportation problems in the region.

CEREMONY PREPARATIONS

Similar arrangements were made around the historic Habib-i Neccar Mosque. While the front of the mosque and Kemalpaşa Street were paved with new cobblestones, it was noted that Kurtuluş Street still remains a construction site. Residents of Hatay, surprised by the roads being completed in a single night, commented, "May the President come to Hatay every day."

Cabinet members, members of parliament, mayors, and many figures from the worlds of business, art, and sports are expected to attend tomorrow's ceremony. During the program, keys will be handed over to earthquake-survivor families, and the newly rebuilt Habib-i Neccar Mosque will be inaugurated.
