Presidential Cabinet meets with Syria and salary hikes on the agenda

The Presidential Cabinet gathered at Beştepe for a critical meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The main agenda of the meeting, which began at 15:35, was the developments in Syria. In particular, strategies to be followed against terrorist organizations such as the PKK/YPG/PYD, which directly concern Turkey's security, will be discussed. The security situation in northern Syria and new equations in the region were addressed by cabinet members.

SAFE REPATRIATION PROCESS FOR REFUGEES

Another important agenda item of the meeting was ensuring the safe repatriation process for Syrian refugees in Turkey. The Cabinet plans to take various measures regarding the difficulties in the return process of refugees and how Turkey can contribute to this process. Following the end of the civil war in Syria, practices and strategies for the return of refugees will be evaluated.

DOMESTIC ECONOMY: SALARY HIKES AND THE FIGHT AGAINST INFLATION

In the domestic policy section of the meeting, economic decisions for 2024 will be put on the table. The rates of increase to be applied to the minimum wage, as well as retiree and civil servant salaries, hold an important place on the cabinet members' agenda. The government will discuss steps to be taken to balance the effects of inflation and increase the purchasing power of citizens. In addition, how economic policies will be shaped and measures to be taken to improve the living standards of citizens will also be discussed.
