Protested 2 years ago: Father of fallen soldier kisses Özgür Özel on the forehead

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel spent Eid al-Adha in his hometown of Manisa. After performing the Eid prayer at the historic Hatuniye Mosque in Manisa's Şehzadeler district, Özel visited cemeteries and the martyrs' memorial.

LEFT CARNATIONS AT THE MARTYRS' CEMETERY

Following the Eid prayer, the CHP leader went to the Manisa Garrison Martyrs' Cemetery and the police martyrs' cemetery. There, he placed carnations on the graves of the fallen, exchanged Eid greetings with citizens, and prayed for the martyrs.

VISITED THE GRAVE OF THE SOLDIER AT WHOSE FUNERAL HE WAS PROTESTED

One of the most notable moments of the visit was the stop at the grave of Infantry Contracted Private Enes Budak, who was martyred a year ago as a result of an attack carried out by terrorists in northern Iraq. Özgür Özel, who had been protested at the funeral ceremony of martyr Enes Budak, visited his grave with his family this Eid to once again convey his condolences.

Özgür Özel met with the martyr's father, İkram Budak, and his twin brother, Yunus Budak, at the Garrison Martyrs' Cemetery. Placing flowers on the martyr's grave, Özel prayed with the family. During the emotional visit, as they were saying goodbye, the martyr's father, İkram Budak, kissed the CHP Chairman on the forehead and thanked him.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

CHP leader Özel had been protested at a martyr's funeral in Manisa in December 2023. However, the martyr's family had also stated that they were uncomfortable with the protests.
