The Supreme Election Council (YSK) decision regarding the procedures to be followed when submitting candidate lists for the Local Administration General Elections to be held on March 31 has been published in the Official Gazette.

Published in the Official Gazette: YSK decision on 'candidate lists' for local elections

According to the Supreme Election Council (YSK) Decision published in the Official Gazette, in metropolitan municipalities, political party provincial presidencies must submit their metropolitan mayoral candidate lists to the provincial election boards, while political party district presidencies must submit their candidate lists for mayoral, municipal council membership, and provincial general assembly membership to the district election boards. These submissions must be made in exchange for a receipt, provided on a portable storage device and in three paper copies, separately for all elections held in that electoral district, no later than 17:00 on Tuesday, February 20.

Independent candidates must apply to the relevant provincial or district election boards no later than 17:00 on February 20 by submitting their petition along with documents proving they meet the eligibility requirements stipulated by law and a receipt showing they have deposited 7 thousand 228 TL, which is the gross monthly salary of the highest-ranking civil servant, into the public treasury. Furthermore, if independent candidates withdraw their candidacy, the money they deposited as a security will not be returned to them.
