Rally venue dispute between CHP and İzmir Governor's Office

Following the legal process within the Republican People's Party (CHP) that led to the 38th Ordinary Congress being annulled due to a "null and void" ruling, a new era has begun within the party. While discussions regarding the party chairmanship continue, Özgür Özel had announced that they would address the public through mass events. The location for the first major rally was set as İzmir.

CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Çağatay Güç called on party members and citizens to gather at Cumhuriyet Square at 12:00, stating, "Following the interference directed at our headquarters, we will hold our first major gathering in İzmir. We will host our Chairman together in our İzmir, at Cumhuriyet Square."

However, a dispute arose regarding the rally venue. The İzmir Governor's Office requested that the event be moved to Gündoğdu Square, citing insufficient capacity at the site. The CHP administration insisted that the program would proceed as originally planned and officially announced that the rally would be held at Cumhuriyet Square. It was also reported that the party's chairman, Özgür Özel, had conveyed this decision to the Governor's Office.

In another development, it was stated that immediately following his contacts in İzmir, CHP leader Özgür Özel would meet with citizens in his hometown of Manisa on Tuesday, May 26, at 17:00.

While preparations continue for the rally in İzmir, which will be the first scene of developments following the congress, the venue crisis between the party and the Governor's Office has not yet been resolved.
