The rapprochement between AKP and DEM continues. Ahmet Türk: If Erdoğan wants, he can persuade, they can solve the problem
Following Selahattin Demirtaş's statement that "the primary interlocutor for the resolution of the Kurdish issue is Mr. Erdoğan," a similar statement has come from Ahmet Türk.
Although President Erdoğan accuses the CHP of collaborating with the DEM Party at every opportunity, the rapprochement between the AKP and the DEM Party continues. Speaking to Rudaw, Ahmet Türk said, "Our desire is the brotherhood of peoples. But we say this: the CHP cannot do it. Why? Because it cannot persuade the deep state. If Erdoğan wants to, he can."
DEM Party Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Türk stated in his remarks to Rudaw that their primary goal is the "resolution of the Kurdish issue through democratic means," but that a new resolution process does not appear possible under the current circumstances.
Türk spoke as follows:
"Our cause, our demand is peace. Our desire is the brotherhood of peoples. But we say this: the CHP cannot do it. Why? Because it cannot persuade the deep state. If Erdoğan wants to—since today all powers, institutions, and organizations are in his hands—he can persuade. They can solve the problem. Even if the CHP wanted to, it could not persuade the entire state, the deep state. That is why I made this assessment. I did not say only Erdoğan can solve it or will solve it; I said he has that power. But today, it is also Erdoğan who oppresses the Kurds the most. He holds the authority until 2028."
