İbrahim Özkan, an advisor to the detained Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, has criticized the rallies initiated by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel following İmamoğlu's arrest.
In this reaction from within the party, Özkan stated that the rallies do not benefit the CHP and, on the contrary, are draining the party's energy.
"TAKE OFF THE BLINDERS"
Arguing that CHP organizations are acting with a narrow perspective, İbrahim Özkan called on the party leadership, saying, "CHP organizations must stop looking at the world through blinders."
Stating that the influence of social media is exaggerated, Özkan said that politics should not be limited to the digital sphere and that it is essential to reach the most remote corners of Anatolia.
"THIS IS HOW POLITICS IS DONE"
Emphasizing in his statement that politics must be conducted on the ground, Özkan used the following expressions:
"You must go to the most remote corners and ask after the people's well-being. This is how politics is done. People you do not touch are not yours."
"MY BRAVE LION ROMANTICISM IS NOT ENOUGH"
Arguing that the rallies do not motivate people, Özkan also expressed the following on this matter:
"You cannot motivate people by going out there with 'my brave lion romanticism.' Those who used to go have started to stop going; the weather is cold. You cannot just have constant meetings."
