Refugees attack Victory Party members in Samsun! Reaction from Ümit Özdağ

The incident occurred on January 6. Near the Tür-İş Tram Station in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood of Samsun's Atakum district, 6 Iraqi refugees verbally attacked Victory Party members who were conducting a booth campaign.

The party members filed a complaint against the attackers, who used profanity and spat on the Göktürk flag at the booth. Police arrested 2 of the 6 refugees.

Making a statement following the incident, Victory Party Samsun Provincial Chair Faruk Şen stated, "These attacks cannot stop the Victory Party. Turkish youth will continue their struggle in Samsun more strongly to ensure that Turkey does not become a 'migrant-land'."

The full statement from Şen is as follows;

"The migrant problem in Turkey has now reached the level of insolent attacks on a party that is conducting its political activities legally. It is obvious where these so-called guests get the power to spit in the faces of Turkish youth in the second-largest district of Samsun by population. A vile attack was carried out not only against Turkish children but also against the Göktürk Flag, which is the flag of our ancestors. The incident did not escalate because we warned our youth before the booth was opened, saying, 'In case of any provocation, you will notify the Turkish police and the justice system.' We are biting our tongues to avoid giving ammunition to the enemies of the Turks. It is unacceptable for our youth to be subjected to the insults of these rootless people in the Turkish homeland. These attacks cannot stop the Victory Party. Turkish youth will continue their struggle in Samsun more strongly to ensure that Turkey does not become a 'migrant-land'."
