Remarkable 'alliance' message from Özgür Özel! "To turn a new white page..."

The Republican People's Party (CHP) is moving step by step toward its 38th Ordinary Congress on November 4-5.

In the provincial congresses that began in August, 67 provincial chairs have been elected so far, primarily in Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir. At the Istanbul Provincial Congress, the candidate of the change-makers, Özgür Çelik, won the election against the candidate of the party headquarters, Cemal Canpolat.

CHP Group Chairman Özgür Özel made important statements ahead of the congress on November 4-5. Speaking to Eray Görgülü from T24, Özel evaluated the IYI Party's decision to field candidates in all 81 provinces in the local elections.

"A CHANGE IN GENERAL PRESIDENCY ALSO TURNS A WHITE PAGE FOR THE ALLIANCE"

Stating that “A change in the General Presidency in the CHP is an important paradigm shift,” Özel used the expressions, “This provides an opportunity to turn a new white page with alliance partners and to sit down and talk with them again.”

Özel answered the question, “If you are elected General Chairman, will you make an initiative for the IYI Party to reconsider this decision?” with the words, “A new page has been turned in our party. Let us also turn a new page. Saying that we will repeat what we did right in the past and learn lessons from what we did wrong is a duty that the new CHP General Chairman cannot avoid.”

Noting that what happened in the past within the Nation Alliance weakened the alliance's potential, Özel stated that Kurdish voters were also reactive due to the protocol made with the Victory Party (Zafer Partisi), saying, “They are reacting by asking, 'Did we vote for Mr. Kemal just to make Ümit Özdağ the Minister of Interior?'”

Özel also used the expression, “No one who has voted for the Nation Alliance will consent to municipalities being left to the AK Party or the MHP right before our eyes, or to municipalities we could win remaining in their hands.”
