Remarkable Osman Kavala comment from AKP's Tuğrul Türkeş: 'I am personally curious'

AKP Ankara Deputy Tuğrul Türkeş has made a remarkable statement on his social media account.

“Why are they opposing the retrial of Osman Kavala?” asked Türkeş, expressing his views regarding Kavala's trial.

"WHAT IS THE BENEFIT TO TURKEY?"

Following the question posed by columnist Abdülkadir Selvi, known for his proximity to the AKP government, asking “What is the benefit to Turkey of keeping Osman Kavala in prison and having the Gezi protesters spend years in jail?”, another remarkable statement regarding the Gezi Park detainees came from AKP Ankara Deputy Tuğrul Türkeş.

AKP Ankara Deputy Tuğrul Türkeş shared a post on his social media account regarding the trial of Osman Kavala.

Türkeş's post is as follows:

"The Retrial Process of Osman Kavala:

The lawyers for the "Osman Kavala" case, which is an important case for Turkey both internationally and in terms of domestic law, have filed a petition for a retrial. As you know, Osman Kavala has been on trial and in detention for 7 years. The subject has been covered in the media.

A lot of (legal experts) and people who do not hold the title of legal expert have started to express opinions against the matter without being familiar with the case and, most importantly, without seeing the entire petition. I am personally curious as to what these people are basing their opposition on and what they are opposing.

A- Is it because Abdülkadir Selvi wrote about the issue?

B- Is it because of the high probability that Osman Kavala will finally be released?

C- Is it because Turkey will be freed from unfair accusations in the international arena?

D- Is it because they could not think of this themselves?

E- Is it because the fog is clearing from the gray environment they are trying to create?

F- I don't even want to think about it, but; does the possibility of the issue being resolved through domestic law bother certain circles?"
