Result from AKP's Istanbul poll that will upset Murat Kurum! İmamoğlu is ahead...

As the local elections approach, public opinion research companies continue their polling efforts.

While the race in Istanbul, one of the cities most closely watched in these critical elections, is expected to be between Ekrem İmamoğlu and Murat Kurum, the results of the latest election poll commissioned by the AKP for the megacity have emerged.

Journalist İsmail Saymaz reported in his column today on the results of a poll conducted by the AKP three weeks ago in Istanbul with 2,500 people.

According to this poll, the vote shares of the candidates are as follows:

  • Ekrem İmamoğlu: 41.4 percent
  • Murat Kurum: 40.2 percent
  • Meral D. Beştaş: 5.1 percent
  • Mehmet Altınöz: 4.2 percent
  • Buğra Kavuncu: 3.4 percent

Saymaz stated that following this poll, the AKP has begun a new survey of 50,000 people that also includes district candidates, and reported the initial findings as follows:

“CHP candidates are ahead in Üsküdar and Sancaktepe. İmamoğlu is pulling ahead in both these districts and in Eyüp, Çekmeköy, and Bahçelievler, which the AK Party considers its strongholds. The YRP is receiving 4 percent or more of the vote.”

On the other hand, it is noted that the gap between the AKP and the CHP in Malatya has fallen to 2 percent. It is stated that the YRP is reaching 17 percent in Malatya.

Saymaz shared the view that, “This picture may be the reason behind Erdoğan’s anger toward the YRP.”
