The lawsuit filed for the cancellation of the CHP conventions where Özgür Özel was elected chairman has been postponed. The claim that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu could become chairman again in the event of the conventions being cancelled is being voiced.
WILL KILIÇDAROĞLU RETURN TO THE CHAIRMANSHIP?
Journalist İsmail Saymaz, who stated that he spoke with Kılıçdaroğlu's circle and the CHP Headquarters yesterday, shared striking inside information that has stirred up Ankara political circles.
Stating that there is a tendency toward "absolute nullity" in Ankara, Saymaz said, "As far as I understand, the tendency in Ankara is toward making a decision called absolute nullity. That is where the weight is leaning," and added the following:
"What does absolute nullity mean? It means returning to the time before the convention on November 3-4, 2023. In other words, it means handing the party back to the last chairman before that, the chairman during the Özgür Özel period, and his party assembly. Therefore, it means Kılıçdaroğlu returning to the helm."
"KILIÇDAROĞLU WOULD NOT REFUSE"
Saymaz said that when he asked whether Kılıçdaroğlu would refuse this decision, he received the following response from his circle:
"No, he would not refuse. Because they said, 'Should the party be left ownerless or leaderless? Özgür Özel is also gone. Should Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu not take it either? Should he leave the party without a leader?' they said."
LAWSUIT REGARDING THE CANCELLATION OF CHP CONVENTIONS POSTPONED
The lawsuit regarding the cancellation of the CHP's 38th Ordinary Convention held on November 4-5, 2023, and the 21st Extraordinary Convention on April 6, 2025, has been postponed to June 30. The Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance rejected the request for an interim injunction regarding the CHP's 21st Extraordinary Convention on April 6, 2025.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
An investigation into irregularities regarding the CHP's 38th Ordinary Convention held on November 4-5, 2023, had been initiated by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Former Hatay Mayor Lütfü Savaş and some delegates had filed separate lawsuits in different courts for the cancellation of the CHP's convention on November 4-5, 2023.
The filed cancellation lawsuits were consolidated into the file at the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance.
