Revealed in the records: 'PKK-KCK' note regarding Ekrem İmamoğlu!
Twelve people detained during an operation launched following the demands of the Pensioners' Assembly members have been arrested. The pensioners were questioned about individuals with alleged terror links, including Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Members of the Pensioners' Assembly, who held protests demanding that pensions be updated according to real inflation and that the lowest pension be raised to the poverty line, were detained in an operation conducted in Istanbul on the morning of March 31. The pensioners, who drew attention with their marches and press statements, were arrested on charges of "membership in the DHKP-C armed terrorist organization" as part of an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
"PKK/KCK" NOTE REGARDING İMAMOĞLU
The detained pensioners were questioned about 27 people they had spoken with over the phone. Among these names was Ekrem İmamoğlu, with whom they had 5 "0-minute" calls.
According to the report by Furkan Karabay from Medyascope, İmamoğlu's name appeared in the records alongside a "PKK/KCK" connection. The detained pensioners stated that they had no knowledge of any organizational ties regarding İmamoğlu.

CRITICISM OF THE HEADQUARTERS' SILENCE
The members of the Pensioners' Assembly, who drew attention with their protests by marching from Istanbul to Ankara to create public awareness, stated that they were seeking their rights independently of any organizational connection. The pensioners stated that these activities were not carried out under any instructions, that they were announced on social media, and that they were legally seeking their rights.
The 12 pensioners, who were held in custody for 4 days, were referred to the Çağlayan Courthouse and then brought before the court by the prosecutor's office with a request for arrest. While 7 people were arrested on charges of membership in an organization, 5 were released under judicial control with a travel ban.
"NO ORGANIZATIONAL TIES FOUND"
Uğur Esat Keşküş, the lawyer for the Pensioners' Assembly members, said that all the activities of the pensioners were efforts to seek rights within the scope of the constitution and that they had no connection with any organization. Keşküş stated, "The democratic rights-seeking efforts of pensioners, such as organizing marches via social media, making press statements, and conducting signature campaigns, cannot be presented as a crime."
"TERROR" AND "ORGANIZATION" INVESTIGATION OPENED AGAINST İMAMOĞLU
Behind the terror charges directed at the Pensioners' Assembly members lies another investigation opened against Ekrem İmamoğlu. In an operation conducted against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) on March 19, an investigation was opened against İmamoğlu and other municipal officials on charges of "corruption" and "terrorism." İmamoğlu's name had come to the agenda through the finding of organizational links within the framework of the "City Consensus" (Kent Uzlaşısı).
WHAT IS THE CITY CONSENSUS?
The City Consensus, which is the subject of "terror" investigations, refers to the strategic alliance formed between the CHP and the DEM Party in the March 31, 2024 local elections. The DEM Party had defined the City Consensus as "participating in elections with candidates on whom all dynamics of the city have agreed." In this context, it did not field candidates in some regions in the western provinces and cooperated with the CHP.
In the March 31 local elections, the CHP surpassed the AKP to become the party with the most votes. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, however, defined the City Consensus after the local elections as an activity aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the PKK in metropolitan provinces. In this context, "terror" investigations were launched, and first, Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was arrested on charges of "membership in an organization" and a trustee was appointed in his place.
