Saadet Party:

The parliamentary status of TİP Hatay MP Can Atalay, who is currently in prison, was revoked today following the reading of the Court of Cassation's decision in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly.

The Saadet Party issued a statement regarding the revocation of Atalay's parliamentary status on its official X account.

"WE CONDEMN THOSE WHO SIGNED OFF ON THIS SCANDALOUS DECISION"

The statement from the Saadet Party is as follows:

"Where there is no justice, there is oppression and tyranny! It is a requirement of our faith to stand by justice regardless of who is being subjected to oppression and tyranny. On the other hand, every government derives its legitimacy from the Constitution. A government that ignores the Constitution first and foremost ignores its own legitimacy!

We want it to be known that we have no political or social similarities with Can Atalay. However, stripping a person elected by the national will of their parliamentary status, despite the Constitutional Court's ruling, is a violation of law with no ifs or buts. We condemn those who signed off on this scandalous decision. Everyone is equal before the law. If you ignore this equality and the laws, you lose the status of being a state of law."
