Sharp reaction from Mansur Yavaş to Erdoğan: 'We are experiencing the exact same thing right now'
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş reacted to the words of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who claimed, "We have sent everything that should be received from the budget to all municipalities in full, regardless of which party they belong to."
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's statement, "We have sent everything that should be received from the budget to all municipalities in full, regardless of which party they belong to," was met with a response from Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who pointed out that the municipality's approved projects are being held up in the municipal council and reminded that they have not received loans from public banks.
Yavaş stated, "We watched the President's words from when he was first elected. He says that the government did not treat them equally and practiced discrimination, but we are experiencing the exact same thing he described right now."
ABB Mayor Mansur Yavaş responded to the remarks of AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who frequently targets CHP-run municipalities by claiming they "do not provide services," and evaluated the election promises of the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı) Ankara candidate Turgut Altınok.
"WE ARE THE FIRST TO IMPLEMENT IT"
When asked about Altınok's statement regarding providing 'Capital Card' (Başkent Kart) support to retirees, Yavaş said, "We have already been implementing this effectively for 3 years. It seems the esteemed candidate has not been following us because he has not attended the council meetings. We are the first to implement this in Turkey," he said.
Reacting to Erdoğan's words, "As the government, we have sent and continue to send everything that should be received from the budget to all municipalities in full, regardless of which party they belong to," Yavaş emphasized that they have been unable to obtain loans from public banks and that approved projects are being stalled in the municipal councils.
Yavaş said the following:
"That is already a legal requirement. It cannot be at the President's personal discretion. How much credit have opposition municipalities been able to receive from İller Bank, and have they been able to receive a single penny from public banks? We have received none. We have a water treatment project approved by Erdoğan. We found the funding for it, but it has been held up in the municipal council for 8 months. Today, we watched the President's words from when he was first elected. He says that the government did not treat them equally and practiced discrimination, but we are experiencing the exact same thing he described right now."
