Sharp reaction from Özgür Özel to Numan Kurtulmuş! 'We will break the hand that reaches out!'

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş made statements suggesting that Article 3 of the constitution could be changed, noting that the phrase "The State of Turkey is an indivisible whole with its territory and nation" should be reviewed. While these words sparked major backlash on social media, a sharp response came from Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel. Speaking in Datça, Özel criticized Kurtulmuş's move, stating, "We will break the hand that reaches out to the first 4 articles!" Highlighting the government's relationship with HÜDAPAR, Özel expressed that constitutional changes could harm the unity of society.

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş's statement regarding the potential change to Article 3 of the constitution has caused a major stir in public opinion. Kurtulmuş argued that the phrase "The State of Turkey is an indivisible whole with its territory and nation" should be reviewed. Stating, "The essence of the state is the nation. The state exists to manage the affairs of the nation well," Kurtulmuş emphasized that the current phrasing should be changed.

SHARP REACTION FROM ÖZGÜR ÖZEL

This move by Kurtulmuş was met with widespread reaction on social media. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, in a statement made in the Datça district of Muğla, reacted to Kurtulmuş by using the phrase, "We will break the hand that reaches out to the first 4 articles!" Drawing attention to the government's relationship with HÜDAPAR, Özel expressed that such discussions could harm the unity of society.

Özel stated that Kurtulmuş's words were an attempt to start a debate and underscored that the constitution must be protected, saying, "The Republic of Turkey is an indivisible whole with its state, nation, and territory." Questioning HÜDAPAR's influence on the constitution, Özel emphasized that this situation is unacceptable.

Özel's statements are as follows:

"Tayyip Bey gave his word to HÜDAPAR, and they withdrew from the Istanbul Convention. Then that HÜDAPAR came out and said what? 'Let the 4th article of the constitution be discussed,' they said. They gave them leeway... We asked in recent months, they dodged it. Yesterday, this time Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş came out and said, 'The phrase that the state is an indivisible whole with its nation and territory is wrong.' Where is this written? It is written in the same place. The main issue; he is supposedly going to start an intellectual debate. Sir, not the state with its nation and territory, but the nation with its state and territory... Plato says, 'The state is not a structure built by individuals, but a necessary formation required by conditions.' Plato sanctifies the state, the other sanctifies the nation. My brother, there is no need to play with it at all... Let the hand that reaches out be broken. When you read that part, you understand this; The Republic of Turkey is an indivisible whole with its state, nation, and territory. Period.

Tayyip Bey cannot say anything to HÜDAPAR, Bahçeli does not say anything to HÜDAPAR, and Numan Bey is going to expand HÜDAPAR's space, supposedly opening an intellectual debate. No, sir, the soldiers wrote it wrong... By God, we are citizens of the Republic of Turkey with our Kurds, Turks, Laz, Circassians, Alevis, Sunnis, Christians, Jews, and Muslims. We are all together. Our flag is clear, our capital is clear, our founder is clear. Those who have a problem with these are also clear. We will break the hand of those who reach out to the first 4 articles, that is all I have to say."
